These awards are open to any Fintech Startup operating in Australia (i.e. they may have been founded inside or outside of Australia). FinTech Australia uses EY’s “C.L.A.S.S.I.C.” framework to define a Fintech Startup – for more information see the EY FinTech Australia Census.

1) Emerging FinTech Organisation of the Year (company must be <2 years old) 

Description: This award recognises a fintech organisation that is delivering transformative new financial services offerings through the innovative use of technology to its customers. 

This is open to new organisations in the fintech ecosystem of less than 2 years.

2) FinTech Organisation of the Year 

Descriptions: This award recognises a fintech organisation that has demonstrated a commitment to innovation that assists Australian retail investors or consumers through an innovative fintech platform or functionality, includes consumer-facing retail investment trading platforms as well as B2B adviser-facing investment platforms and tech-enabled investment and portfolio management providers, or ‘robo-advisers’. 

This is open to current and existing participants in the fintech ecosystem who have been operating for over 2 years.

Criteria: for Overall Organisational Excellence Categories 1&2 – (Maximum 300 words per question)

  1. Describe your fintech product/service. Which customer segments does it serve in what markets, and what benefit does it deliver to each segment?
  2. How does your product/service realise these benefits for your customers more effectively than other substitute products and competitors? Describe how your business model creates a sustainable competitive advantage in your chosen market, and how it will position you for future growth into other product, customer or market segments.
  3. Demonstrate how your business model has positioned your company for success using any key growth metrics that you are comfortable sharing (e.g. revenue, customers, churn, customer satisfaction etc).
  4. How impactful has your company been to the overall growth of the fintech ecosystem, both locally and abroad?
  5. Please also provide 1-3 examples of customer testimonials, marketing collateral or other sources of information (such as any audited financial or business metrics and/or statements, or third-party independent party reports) as evidence to support your answers.

3) Deal of the year 

Description: This award recognises the best M&A transaction in fintech. This award is open to professional services, institutions and fintechs.

Criteria: for Overall Organisational Excellence Categories 1&2 – (Maximum 300 words per question)

  1. Please describe in detail the deal, including financial metrics that you feel comfortable sharing. Has the deal significantly changed the product/service offering? If so, how?
  2. What benefit does your deal deliver to the customer and these market segments? Have these customer benefits driven customer acquisition?
  3. How has this deal impacted the growth of the fintech ecosystem or driven cultural change both in Australia and abroad?
  4. Please also provide between 1-3 examples of customer testimonials, marketing collateral or other sources of information (such as any audited financial or business metrics and/or statements, or third-party independent party reports) as evidence to support your answers.

4)  Best Partnership of the Year (single)

Description: This award recognises the best fintech partnership of the year. This award aims to celebrate companies that are willing to work together to drive the cultural and economic success of the fintech ecosystem. 

This award is open to fintech – fintech, institution – fintech and fintech-professional services.

  1. Please describe in detail the partnership. Has the partnership significantly changed each parties or one of the partner’s business model? If so, how?
  2. What benefit does your partnership deliver to the customer and these market segments? Have these customer benefits driven customer acquisition?
  3. How is this partnership innovative? How has this partnership impacted the growth of the fintech ecosystem or driven cultural change both in Australia and abroad?
  4. Please also provide between 1-3 examples of customer testimonials, marketing collateral or other sources of information (such as any audited financial or business metrics and/or statements, or third-party independent party reports) as evidence to support your answers.
